Grade 1 Alfred Vanderbilt Handicap winner, El Deal, will not run in the upcoming Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar. Winner of 9 races in 17 starts isn’t training the way that we think should be to compete at this level. “Horse (El Deal) comes from two excellent but demanding races, and at this moment it is not showing us what we’re looking for. I think it’s better to give him some time off skipping the Beeders’ Cup.”

The Deal made its successful debut under Navarro’s Stables training at Charles Town on April 22 where missed just by .55 seconds from breaking the track record for 4 ½ furlongs, then won the Decathlon Stakes at Momouth Park and the G1 Alfred Vanderbilt Handicap at Saratoga. “Although he ran great at the G1 Vosburgh, in order to be able to compete in the Breeders Cup against the fastest horses in the world, you must be 150% of your game and this moment horse isn’t. We considered that wait for the end of the winter will be the best for El Deal. Breeders Cup is the event where any trainer wants to participate but, we have to do what is best for the horse and not for us.”
